The Best Cycle Mechanics are properly trained - and we train them!
Alf & Teresa Webb Appointed City & Guilds Assessors and Instructors

Of the over 2000 cycle mechanics that we have trained, many have come to us from as far a field as the Shetlands and Channel Isles in the UK. However, our trainees are not restricted to these shores, many others have come from America, Australia, Finland, France, Brazil, Denmark, Eire, Greece, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain.

Our training is above the British Standards set by the National Vocational Qualifications level 2 & 3, the City & Guilds Accreditation and the Association of Cycle Traders "CYTECH" Accreditation.

There are many successful shops and mechanics that have sought our training and assistance to set up in the cycle trade.

A few recent Emails and Letters

"Hi, Alf & Teresa. After leaving your establishment, I took up a Saturday job at a local bike shop and have since understood what you mean by ?????? mechanics. (He then goes on to say that the owner has a certificate from another teaching academy and that he was completely lacking, dangerously in one case he dealt with, in knowledge of bike mechanics) – Alf, I have since left the shop from lack of interest and have advised the owner mechanic to come to you for some purposeful training."

"Hi Alf and Teresa. Just a big thank you for a very good course. As a retired teacher I’ve been to many courses over the years. The majority were “crap” with providers thinking they were the bees knees. Yours was just right. A good balance of theory, practical and good “banter”. So when you go on a course where the providers are extremely knowledgeable and the content spot on it is quite refreshing. I really enjoyed it and gained a huge amount of knowledge and confidence on “fixing” bikes."

"Dear Teresa and Alf. Thank you for an outstanding, memorable fortnight. I don’t think that I have ever enjoyed learning so much – your approach and delivery is simply captivating. I am really grateful for a terrific time with you and consider myself privileged to have attended one of your courses. Some lines taken from the lovely letter sent by Vice Admiral Sir R I. KBE CB DSC MSc - following his attendance on our March 2011 course. Further note dated 15.12.2011 – I’m delighted and not surprised to hear that the courses remain as populas as ever. You are both such inspiring teachers that the word has spread far and wide."

"I just wanted to drop you an e-mail saying how much I appreciated the wonderful course you put on. It was only when I returned home that I realised how much I had learnt and how useful it would be in the future, not just my gap year. The rest of the crew (he means his fellow students – Alf) have all been saying the same, so thank you."

"I would like take this opportunity of thanking you and all those who contributed (he means our ‘3rd hand’ – Neil, and our hydraulics team – Laura and Mike) to the course for your hard work. The course content is very extensive and goes way beyond what others offer. The Bike Inn must produce some of the best trained bicycle mechanics in the UK! The key is the way you make it enjoyable so you hardly know you are acquiring so much knowledge and at the same time being stretched. Long may your success continue."

(2011)"Hi Alf/Teresa. Just a quick line thank you both for the excellent course you have just provided me with. You are both so knowledgeable and have a great method in training that it makes it a pleasure to arrive in the morning for another days training. (He then goes on to order some stock – Alf)"
